I just wrapped up boot camp two days ago, and have had some time to reflect on the experience as a whole. I must say that I am even more excited than I was previously.

Boot camp was a 4 day training camp of sorts in Gainesville, Georgia, and is a precursor to launch day in Sept. We spent the 4 days worshipping, team building, and playing (more like trying to play) Spikeball.

Nothing too intense on at boot camp, the main focus was getting to know the team. It was a great experience. Meeting such a large array of new faces was so exciting, and the team is so much fun already. It is rare that a group has so much instant chemistry, and it does not feel like we have spent a measly 3 full days together.

I’m stoked to get closer with the whole group in the next year, specifically the group of guys. During the team building exercises, I thought we made great improvements on an already solid team foundation. It seems like everyone in the group is all in on making the team as effective and cohesive as possible, and we have already formed a special kind of bond that will only grow in the next year. It makes me ready to continue this trajectory in the field.

Boot camp was a great first step to this journey, and I can’t wait for September!

  4. Small world. My mother grew up in Gainesville. She lived with her grandparents, her aunt, her 2 cousins, 2 siblings and her Mom. Her Mom would take the train to Atlanta every week to teach and then come home on the weekends. Nana may chime in here on Gainesville.

  5. Philip, I grew up in Gainesville, which was a small town back then, highschool grad in 1956. ( I’m Jonathan Cooper’s Nana.)
How did you wind up in G’ville and what are you “learning”? If you find a spare moment I’d love to hear of your impressions of that part of GA. Meanwhile enjoy your time there on the road to your future. Deborah Herbst
